How to Write a Travel Listing Description for TraveList Specialized Directory
TraveList is a specialized travel directory with fantastic travel listings for its members. What makes it even more appealing is the fact that it’s free for tourism-related businesses. Yet, a few people make their listings there. Why? Because it asks them to write a 600-1500 word description of their businesses. Such travel listing possibility is unique, not even rare. Anyway, here’s the question: Can you write about your business in 600 words or more?
What to Write for a Travel Listing at TraveList
Your travel listing is basically going to be an outline of what your business offers to its clients and a bit of explanation, illustration and presentation. What I’m going to clarify at this post is the explanation part of it. Illustration part is the images you upload and the presentation part is the video and slides you include in it.
Before you proceed to submit travel listing, make sure you’ve written your main description in third-person narrative mode and non-promotional language and included keywords linked to your landing pages in it. This saves time and helps you submit your listing in a reasonably short amount of time. In other words, you will not be stuck there anymore.
In order to write an informative and attractive description, you will have to answer to certain set of questions every searcher may have in his/her mind. Here are the questions and how you should answer:
Question No.1: Will You Introduce Your Business Briefly?
Your Answer: You’re supposed to explain to your audience when your business started, where it started, what it offers, who started it and why! This way you’ve made a summary of who you are, but remember that people have come to your travel listing page to see what you have to offer and how different it is compared to tons of similar services and products they can find online.
So, write in few short sentences providing direct answer to the question above and create enough interest in your readers so that they continue reading down the page. Don’t worry if you’ve not explained the details here. You’re not expected to do so at this stage. Just create curiosity and interest and proceed to the next stage.
Question No.2: Will You Introduce Your Services/Products?
Your Answer: After an introductory sentence, proceed to make a list of services like:
- Service number one
- Service number two
- Service number three
… and explain your competitive comparison, not necessarily mentioning your competitors’ names. You can tell your audience how your niche travel service is different from the rest of the providers in your destination, sector, etc. In doing so, you can explain what your keys to success have been. In other words, what differentiates you from the others.
Let’s not forget the fact that if you’re a business like any other ones and you are after your share of the market, you will be stuck there. It’s a competition world!
You should even proceed to explain your upcoming services and future developments. Do you have any? You’d better think about it and start doing something about it. If you already have begun, mention it here. It’s indicating your ambition to provide more for your clients.
Question No.3: What’s Your Target Market?
Your Answer: When you write a travel listing at TraveList, it should be one of your description’s highlights to elaborate the details of your niche travel services. Remember that you’re writing for a specialized travel directory. People visit this website to learn about the details of your services and products so that they can find out where differences are so that they can choose what’s good for them and what’s not.
So, explain who the consumers of your travel services or travel products are. This will describe your niche. Are your services/products for young, adventurous, athletes, pentionists, families, history-lovers, business owners, large corporations, corporate executives, etc? What age range do your clients consist of ? such descriptions will define the nature of what you offer.
Question No.4: What Are Your Mission & Vision?
Your Answer: It should principally explain why you’ve started this business and continue it, what your priorities are and how you try to accomplish them. Highlight the significant decisions you’ve made about the main pillars of your business. For instance, if protecting the environment is a priority at your business, you must explain it here and mention the initiatives you’ve taken in this regard and the awards you’ve won, if any.
Refer to the future developments in line with your visions and preferences at your company. Tell your audience why your company spends its resources on achieving those goals.
Question No.5: Who Are the Management & Staff Team Members?
Your Answer: What persuades many to make purchases in travel market isn’t the product, but it’s the people who are behind it. It’s important for the people to know who offers the service, which is beautifully described. One reason why social media is so popular and travel-related customers use it extensively is the fact that they want to know who the people are and what their attitudes, commitment, and qualitative characters are.
TraveList has allocated other sections of its travel listing to the introduction of your social media profiles, because such clients are determined to know more about YOU as well as your services/products. So, you have to come out from behind your corporate logo and make personal relationship with your potential clients.
Just introduce your professional team members and explain how dedicated and qualified they are, and what your organization structure is. You can even make a link to your “about page” where you’ve introduced them in more details and provided the contact numbers. Some may prefer to introduce the link to their LinkedIn company pages where the employees are introduced with their detailed profiles.
